The Sands Of Time

I'm laying in this bed watching time fly
Tears in my eyes, wondering if time ever cries
It tells us pretty lies
But in the end it takes our lives
Gives us enough to keep us hopeful
But in the end we're out of time
Got me praying to God
But my faith slips with passing seconds
Things fade with it's vision
But it teaches us lifes lessions
But the sad thing
Is that the price is our sanity
We're living with this vanity
Cause old is the last thing we want to be
it gives us a time of peace
Only to laugh and make it cease
Makes our stomachs growl
when we don't have a bite to eat
Leads us to where we got to be
But won't tell us we'll end up in the streets
We're praying for immortality
So we don't end up as sand in the breeze

-Mike Burgess-
Just one of the rare poems you'll see come from me. I wrote it one day when I was just laying on my bed thinking...
